Violinist Angela Sin Ying Chan started learning the violin at the age of 3. She was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in 2013, where she studies with Aaron Rosand, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and Pamela Frank. Ms. Chan has taken part in numerous numbers of international violin competitions. Some highlights among her awards are 2019 prize winner of the Harbin International Competition and the Michael Hill International Violin Competition, First Prize and Concerto Performance Award of the 8th International Louise Spohr Competition for Young Violinists and the 3rd prize of the Andrea Postacchini Competition. She was also chosen to participate in highly esteemed international violin competitions including the Sendai and Montreal competitions. As a soloist, Ms. Chan has appeared with orchestras including The Staatskapelle Weimar Orchestra of Germany, China Philharmonic Orchestra, EOS Orchestra of Beijing, and the Hong Kong Symphonia. In 2016, Ms. Chan was selected as a soloist to a tour around the states with The Curtis Chamber Orchestra. She has also with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra in their “2017 Europe Tour” and played in famous concert halls such as Berlin’s Konzerthaus, Helsinki’s Musiikkitalo, Dresdner Philarmonie, and Weiner Concert Hall. Ms. Chan has held many recitals in various cities such as Philadelphia, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Xiamen. In September 2019, she is invited on a tour to several cities in China where she will be giving solo and chamber music recitals.
