Cecelia Olszewski

Cecelia Olszewski (age 19) is a composer, violinist, and pianist from Wallingford, Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Composition at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music. She is an alumna of the Luna Composition Lab fellowship, founded by Missy Mazzoli (2019 GRAMMY-nominee) and Ellen Reid (2019 Pulitzer Prize Winner). Her works have been performed by members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the International Contemporary Ensemble. She was commissioned to compose a choral work for the 150th season of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's May Festival in March of 2023. In 2021, she released ] tenth muse, a self-produced song cycle and concept album based on Sappho fragments. Her piece, isolate for solo oboe, aired on WRTI 90.1 FM in 2020.
Cecelia began studying violin at age 4 and piano at age 5. She was a member of the Temple University Center for Gifted Young Musicians from ages 9-18. Cecelia was the concertmaster of PMEA District Orchestra in 2021, advancing to the NAfME All-National Honors Orchestra. She was the concertmaster of the Strath Haven Symphony Orchestra as well as drum major for the Strath Haven Panther Marching Band. Since 2018, she has been a dedicated member of the Back to Bach Project. During the pandemic, she designed a new presentation for virtual events focusing on healthy musicianship and self-care for middle/high school instrumentalists.
