Pre-College Scholarship, Daniel was the youngest oboist to be accepted at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division. He is the sole Pre-College student of Nathan Hughes, principal oboist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Daniel is a 2021 National YoungArts Foundation Merit Winner and a featured performer on NPR’s “From the Top” show in 2022. He has won the Davidson Fellows Scholarship Honorable Mention in 2021 and 2022. In the summer of 2022, Daniel was co-principal oboist of the National Youth Orchestra of the USA, which toured Europe with conductor Daniel Harding and cello soloist Alisa Weilerstein. In 2021, Daniel Choi was the principal oboist of National Youth Orchestra 2. Daniel is also a Caroline D. Bradley Scholar of the class of 2023.
