Winner of the 1st Prize and Grand Award at the 2018 National Music Festival of Canada, David Liam Roberts is establishing himself as one of the most exciting Canadian cellists of his generation. Named one of Canada’s “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30” by the CBC in 2019, he toured Spain as co- principal cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in 2019 as the winner of the Gail Asper Award of Excellence. He studies with Hans Jørgen Jensen and Andrés Dıáz at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where he holds the full-tuition Chisholm scholarship. Having participated in the international Morningside Music Bridge festival for four summers, he has worked with many of the world’s greatest cello pedagogues.

David Liam has performed as soloist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and the Winnipeg Youth Orchestra. During the 2017-18 season, he was a substitute cellist with the WSO. Upcoming engagements include recital debuts in the Virtuosi and Women’s Musical Club of Winnipeg concert series in 2021.
