Greyson Geisness

Back to BACH Soloist: Viola

Greyson Geisness, 18, is a senior at Interlochen Arts Academy. He has won several competitions as a violist, including the National YoungArts Competition, The OPUS Music Competition (Florida Division), The National Society of High School Scholars Performing Arts Music Scholarship, and the National NFMC Wendell Irish Viola Competition. He was also proud to have been given Honorable Mention in the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition and 2nd place at the live MASTA Elizabeth A H Green Solo Competition, both of which are primarily college-level competitions. Additionally, Greyson was a finalist in the Panama City Emerging Artists Competition and the Lyra Music Youth Competition. Greyson is also an avid chamber musician. His quintet, Maxmilian was awarded first place in the Charleston International Music Competition. Recently, Greyson was honored to have been invited, as a first choice soloist among over 300 award-holding musicians, to perform at the National Federation of Music Clubs National Convention. Greyson plays on a 2004 Oded Kishony Viola awarded to him by the generous Virtu foundation. He is very grateful to all the people and foundations that have helped him get to where he is and in turn, enjoys giving back to the community.
