Wentian (Sky) He

Wentian (Sky) He, a rising junior at Palo Alto High School, began playing piano at the age of four and completed his first music composition at the age of eight. He held his first piano recital in December 2020, where he performed pieces by Chopin and Liszt. In 2021, Wentian achieved Silver Award in Steinway International Piano Competition North China Region. He constantly updates his performance videos on YouTube and now has over 20 pieces recorded. During 2021-2023, Wentian finished a collection of five pieces – Fantasia Suite, in which Fantasia Suite No. 4: "Carnival" has won the Honorable Mention in PTSA Art Gallery, Palo Alto. Wentian's favorite pieces are Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 and No. 3, which he hopes one day he can perform.
Beyond his obsession with music, Wentian is devoted to mathematics and science. He qualified for the highest level math competition in the US – USA Mathematical Olympiad – in which over 20,000 people compete each year and only 250 people can qualify for the last round. Despite being a new student at Palo Alto High School in sophomore year, he was elected to be the vice president of the school's math club. He was also the Global Top 100 scorer in the Physics Bowl competition and the National #19 in the International Economics Olympiad.
